Learning a language is not a single skill. It is a group of skills that grow at different speeds: understanding, speaking, reading, and writing.
Most learners forget new words quickly. This is normal. Your memory keeps what it uses and slowly drops what it does not.
There are three simple habits that help.
First, meet the word again after a short delay. A word you look up today, and then see tomorrow, stays longer than a word you repeat ten times in one minute.
Second, take the word from a real sentence. A scene is easier to remember than a list.
Third, use it. Write one sentence of your own, even a short one. The effort matters more than the quality.
These ideas are not magic. They only mean that small, regular work beats long, rare work.
Read something you enjoy this week, save the words that stop you, and return to them on Friday. That is enough.
