One morning, Little Rabbit found a small brown seed beside the melting snow. She did not know what it would become, but she carried it home in her pocket. "I will plant you and find out," she said.
一天早晨，小兔子在融化的雪边发现了一粒小小的棕色种子。她不知道它会变成什么，却把它装进口袋带回了家。“我要把你种下去，看看你会长成什么。”她说。
She put the seed in a pot and gave it water. Then she waited. The pot stayed dark and quiet. Little Rabbit looked at it every day, and hope began to feel very small.
她把种子放进花盆里，给它浇了水，然后开始等待。花盆里一直黑黑的、静静的。小兔子每天都去看它，希望也变得越来越小。
After many days, Little Rabbit saw a tiny green line in the soil. She called her friend Duck to come and look. "It is only a little line," said Duck. "But it is green!" said Little Rabbit.
许多天以后，小兔子看见泥土里冒出一条细细的绿线。她叫朋友鸭子过来看。“只是一条小线呀。”鸭子说。“可它是绿色的！”小兔子说。
They watered the shoot and placed it near the window. Every morning it grew a little taller. Little Rabbit stopped asking when spring would come. She began to enjoy watching the green shoot wake up.
他们给嫩芽浇水，把它放到窗边。每天早晨，它都会长高一点点。小兔子不再追问春天什么时候来。她开始喜欢看着绿色的嫩芽慢慢醒来。
At last, a yellow flower opened in the pot. Its petals looked like little rays of sunshine. Little Rabbit showed it to Duck, and they danced around the table.
终于，花盆里开出了一朵黄色的花。它的花瓣像一缕缕小小的阳光。小兔子把花拿给鸭子看，他们围着桌子跳起舞来。
Soon the flower made seeds of its own. Little Rabbit put each seed in a paper packet and gave them to her friends. "Now you can plant spring too," she said. And all around the village, small green shoots began to grow.
不久，这朵花结出了自己的种子。小兔子把每一粒种子装进纸包，送给朋友们。“现在你们也能种下春天了。”她说。于是，村子四周都开始长出小小的绿芽。
