Every day after school, Jun waited by the gym for his sister. The yard grew quiet. Then, from inside the gym, came a clear, lonely whistle.

On Tuesday, Jun followed the sound. Through a window, he saw a girl named Mei standing alone. She blew into a silver whistle, then covered her ears. Her cheeks were red.
