Lili the giraffe was the tallest animal in the park. She ate leaves from the highest branch.

But when a little turtle called, Lili could not hear him below.
She looked down and felt dizzy. “How can I talk to you?” she asked.
“Bend your knees first,” said the turtle. “Then bring your long neck down, slow and easy.”
Lili tried. Her neck wobbled, and her nose almost touched the grass.
At last, she looked the turtle in the eye. “Hello, little friend,” she said softly.
One hot afternoon, Lili found a juicy leaf. The little turtle waited below.
Lili bent her neck and brought the leaf down. “We can share,” she said.
They ate in the cool shade. Lili was happy to be tall and low at once.
