It is Fawn's birthday. Her mother folds green paper into a pointed hat.

Fawn wears it at breakfast and will not take it off. "I am the forest king," she announces.

Rabbit and Squirrel bring wet leaves and small twigs. They weave a new crown on her head.

Fawn laughs and shakes her ears. "This one smells like the forest," she says. Everyone claps.
