Pip the puppy stands at the bottom of the stairs. He wants to reach the red door.

Pip climbs slowly. Six steps, then seven. The next step looks very high.

His tail goes down. "I cannot," he whispers. Then he hears a friendly bark below.

Big dog Moe climbs beside him. "We can count together," Moe says.

Eight, nine, ten! Pip reaches the red door and wags his tail. The stairs were not so scary after all.
